Thank you, Boris Johnson
Updated: Oct 10
This morning I joined the Prime Minister and watched his final speech from outside Number 10 with his family, friends, team, and parliamentary colleagues.
While his time in office was shorter than anyone envisaged, Boris Johnson's record is impressive.
He broke the Brexit deadlock and delivered on the 2016 referendum result, taking the UK out of the European Union.
He beat Jeremy Corbyn decisively, winning the biggest Conservative majority since the 1980s.
He delivered the fastest vaccine rollout in Europe to turn the tide against coronavirus and restore our freedoms.
And he's led the global response to Vladimir Putin's brutal invasion of Ukraine, delivering the weapons and aid they need to thwart the Kremlin's plans.
It's a record to be proud of - and I know our new Prime Minister, Liz Truss, will build on this when she steps into Number 10 later today.
