I have written to the Civil Aviation Authority on the matter of noise pollution from flights in and out of Biggin Hill Airport — this continues to be an issue for local people living in areas like Farnborough and Crofton.
The airport has a commitment to produce an updated Noise Action Plan, and one of their proposals which will greatly help is using instrument-guided procedure for aircraft to follow when landing.
This will keep aircraft at a greater altitude overpopulated areas, and remove about 30% of flights from the existing flightpath altogether. The Civil Aviation Authority must now get on with trialling this, and I am urging them to do so.
