New Orpington MP Gareth Bacon votes to get Brexit done

Orpington’s new MP, Gareth Bacon, cast his first vote today in the House of Commons to get Brexit done and ensure the UK leaves the EU on the 31 January.

This was the first hurdle for the Withdrawal Agreement Bill in the House of Commons which passed with 358 votes in favour to 234 against. It will continue its passage through Parliament in the new year.

Commenting after the vote, Gareth Bacon MP said: “At the General Election, Orpington, and the country, voted to get Brexit done, and that’s exactly what we are doing.

“I am proud that my first vote as Orpington’s MP was to deliver Brexit. It’s been more than three years since the referendum, and today’s vote means that the UK will be leaving the European Union on the 31 January.”
