They're coming after our green belt

A developer is eyeing up Strawberry Fields in Darwin Ward  for a major housing development on protected green belt land.

Early plans point to 650 homes, plus a care home and a community centre — this would dramatically alter the character of the area put massive strain on infrastructure.

There’s no formal planning application yet, but the developer is already in discussions with the council about bringing one forward.

I met with neighbouring MP Peter Fortune to talk through the serious and lasting consequences this would have for our community.

This is not an isolated case. It’s one of several planned developments on precious green belt land across the London Borough of Bromley.

And make no mistake: this is the direct result of policies from the Labour government and Labour Mayor of London.

Worse still, Reform UK voted with Sadiq Khan's Labour members at City Hall to block a Conservative motion that would have protected our green belt.

Unlike Labour and Reform, we will fight to defend it — because once the green belt is concreted over, it’s gone forever.
